June 4-5, 2024

We are delighted to have you participate in the upcoming Public Policy Forum hosted by the Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association (DCIIA) and SPARK Institute. Thank you in advance for your time and diligence in preparing for this event. This page should be a helpful reference both for information you may need and information we need from you.

General Information

You are encouraged to attend the full conference. For those participating in panel discussions, the panel names and descriptions will be finalized following further discussion with your co-panelist(s) and moderator. Please plan to connect with your panel in-person at the Ronald Reagan Building in advance of your speaking timeslot. All speakers -- please be assembled and ready to go on 15 minutes in advance of your session and be prepared for audience questions at the end of your presentation.

Moderator Expectations

  • Read and respond to communications from event staff to confirm schedules, gather requested materials, etc.
  • Read Speaker and Moderator Guidelines and Expectations and guidelines around materials submission, presentations, etc. and submit requested information in a timely manner.
  • Review and relay session guidelines and other information to speakers (to be provided by event staff)
  • Draft outline or framework for session flow to help guide speakers in preparing for and presenting during the event
  • Provide session title and brief description for use in agenda.
  • Confirm with event staff whether slides will be used for the session and if so, coordinate gathering and reviewing slides. Slides should be created in template provided by event staff.
  • Coordinate and attend 1-2 prep calls with all session speakers prior to the event to discuss content and session flow. (To be done with support from event staff.)
  • Review any relevant research, white papers, etc. prior to the content prep call.
  • If possible, promote the event and your role in it on social media.

Conference Registration & Check-in

Speakers will be registered by DCIIA/SPARK staff and will receive a confirmation notice once registered. Please check-in at the registration desk onsite for last-minute details. You are welcome and encouraged to attend the entire conference.

    Please see parking instructions and directions here. Please leave extra time to your schedule if driving due to security measures. Vehicles will be screened through a metal detector/belt and trunks will be searched for hazardous materials.

    Airport

    The closest airport to the Ronald Reagan Building is the Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA). It is approximately 5 miles and 14 minutes by car/taxi. Alternately, Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is approximately 27.8 miles and 41 minutes by car/taxi from the Ronald Reagan Building.

    The average price for a Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) airport taxi to downtown DC is around $20 USD and the average price for a Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) airport taxi to downtown DC is around $67 USD but additional charges may apply depending on your final destination, the number of passengers, use of toll roads, or the specific day you're travelling.

    DCIIA COVID Policy: Please note that policies and procedures are subject to change pending latest guidance from the authorities.

    DCIIA PowerPoint Template: Use this template for any slides you plan to present during your session. (Many sessions will not use slides at all; this is for those sessions that are using them.) Slides are due no later than May 17th.

    Forum Website: Visit this page for the latest event agenda and other updates. A member registration link is also available; however, please note that speakers will be registered by DCIIA staff and do not need to register themselves.

    Social Media Images: We’ve created promotional image files that can be used on LinkedIn and Twitter.

    Presentation Standards

    • Please submit a maximum of five slides
    • All presentations must be incorporated into the branded PowerPoint template supplied to you
    • The projection format is Widescreen 16:9 for the highest quality.
    • Minimum font size required: Arial 28
    • Minimize use of animation
    • Usage of imagery or graphics on at least 70% of slides
    • Minimize text and information on each slide– audience will need to choose whether to read or listen
    • Consider the presentation to be a visual support aid vs. talking points
    • Use succinct bullet points
    Speakers are encouraged to follow the 5/5/5 rule if at all possible:
    • No more than 5 words of text per line
    • No more than 5 lines per slide
    • No more than 5 text-heavy slides in a row

    • All speaker presentations will be combined into one master deck for the session. We will ensure there is an introductory slide, transition slides between speakers and a closing slide.

      If you are on a panel, the session title and description will be finalized in discussion with your co-panelist(s) and moderator.
